DIY Bath Salts

Hey guys! I hope you're having an amazing day!
Today I'm giving you some top secret information: my recipe for bath salts. Can I trust you with it? I can? Okay, perfect! I know my trust is not misplaced with you.
So are you ready to make some soothing bath salts for that spa night you've been dying to have? Great, let's get started!

Quick side note: if you don't have all the ingredients or don't quite feel like making this by yourself, let me make it for you! You can order it right here and I'll have my pet penguin deliver it right to your door!

Still want to make it yourself? Well here's how you do it!

What you'll need:

  • 1 cup of unscented natural Epsom salts
  • 3/4 cup of baking soda
  • Essential oil of your choice
  • Natural soap coloring (optional)
  • A jar and lid that can be sealed tightly
  • A cute scoop (optional)
Go run and grab that stuff, don't worry I'll wait for you right here!
Got it? Okay, we can now move onto the next step.
Now I'm warning you; this process may take a while. Are you ready?
Let's do it!

  1. First grab a baking sheet and lay some wax paper over it
  2. Next you'll need to measure out the salts and baking soda into a bowl and mix them together.
  3. Now spread them out flat onto the baking sheet
  4. Here comes the long part. Let it sit overnight; this helps to avoid future clumping.
  5. After your salts are totally dry from sitting overnight, drop them into a blender and blend it up until its a nice powder.
  6. Add your essential oil and blend it again to make sure the oil gets mixed into the salts very well.
  7. If you're adding color, add a few drops of the soap colorant (you can also use food coloring but it won't be as natural and it can sometimes cause staining on your skin in the bath if you use too much)
  8. Now let it sit for about five hours.
  9. Blend it again.
  10. Let it sit overnight.
  11. And blend it yet again.
  12. Now Seal it in the jar.
  13. Tie the scoop around the jar with some twine or ribbon and you're done! You've just made your very own bath salts, amazing job!
I knew you could do it! Now go have that spa night that you deserve with your freshly made bath salts.

DIY Natural Makeup Remover

Okay, I'll keep this post short. Basically this is a way to naturally remove makeup (even waterproof makeup!) with only one ingredient: coconut oil.

I have been using this method for a while now and it works perfectly, even to remove waterproof mascara (which I'm sure you all know how hard that stuff is to get off.)

But not only does this remove your makeup, it's also very good for your skin, and may even help your eyelashes to grow longer. It will clean and deeply moisturize your skin and the added moisture will stimulate growth in your eyelashes to leave you with healthy skin and lashes. Drug store makeup removes, however, often do the opposite, drying out your skin and sucking the moisture from your face.

So how do you use coconut oil to remove makeup? Well it's actually really easy.

  • Take about a tablespoon of coconut oil and warm it up for a few seconds in the microwave (Just to melt it; don't let it get too hot or you will burn yourself!)
  • Rub the oil onto your fingertips and then use it to massage your face and anywhere you want to remove makeup. Be patient, this is a natural and gentler way of removing makeup so it may take a few minutes depending on if you're removing waterproof makeup or not.
  • After you have removed the makeup, your face will probably look very smudged and oily. But don't worry, wash it with some warm water and a gentle facial soap and you will have a beautiful, hydrated, and clean face!
Give it a try! I promise your skin will feel super soft after you're done.

Natural Everyday Makeup Tutorial

Hi guys! Today I'm giving you all a tutorial for a natural and casual makeup look. I personally try to keep my makeup minimal and natural, and most days I wear this look or something similar.
So let's get started!

Step One

First you'll need to cover up any blemishes and imperfections on your skin. You can use a foundation and concealer or just one of the two depending on how much you need to cover up. I usually just use a concealer and leave the foundation out. Also apply a bit of concealer under your eyes and on your eyelids. (this acts as a primer for the eye shadow we will be using later, or you can use a normal primer.)

Step Two

To make sure your foundation/concealer stays all day, set it with a simple translucent powder.

Step Three

Next, contour your face to your liking. I tend to highlight more than contouring but you can contour however you like or even skip this step if you'd like. (Although having a good dewy highlight can really help bring this look together.)

Step Four

Next I used this medium brown shadow from a simple nude pallet (from covergirl). I applied this all over my lid and I also used it to fill in my brows.

Step Five

I then used the color next to the brown we just used. I put this into the crease of my eyelid.

Step Six

This cream white is what I used for a base tone highlight on my brow-bone and inter corner of my eyes.

Step Seven

I then switched pallets to this gold toned one and used this light shimmery color to go over the base highlights on my brow-bone and inner corners.

Step Eight

I used a black eyeliner to tight line my upper lid as close to my lashes as I could get. No wing, just a light amount of this eyeliner. And then I smudged it out with a brush (you can also use your fingers for this)

Step Nine

I then used a nude eyeliner for my waterline. (this is more natural the less harsh than a pure white, but it still makes you look more awake and brightens your eyes a bit.)

Step Ten

Mascara. Not much to say here. Apply it however you like it. You can curl your lashes before hand. I also put on a bit of lip gloss, but you can skip this step if you'd rather.

You're done!

DIY Face Masks for Dry Skin

We all have this problem at some time in our life: dry skin. Especially during the winter months, our skin can get dry and dehydrated. So we need to take a bit of extra time to put that moisture back into our skin. But have no fear! I'm here to help you out! Try these DIY face masks so get natural, beautiful, and glowing skin.

Milk Mask

Milk is very hydrating for your skin and is sure to leave it soft and moisturized.
All you need for this mask is milk and baking soda. Mix together two tablespoons of milk and one and a half tablespoons of baking soda.

Rub this on your face in circular motions with clean hands. Rub this all over your face for about one to two minutes and then leave it on your skin for about three more minutes before rinsing with warm water.

Banana Mask

Banana's deeply hydrate your skin if used properly. This mask is good for those of you that want a deep moisturizing mask for eczema or just insanely dry skin.
Mash up half a banana with a tablespoon of honey, a teaspoon of milk, a quarter of a teaspoon of cinnamon, and a tablespoon of coconut oil.

Make sure the mixture is mashed together and mixed well and then apply to your skin with a facial brush or cloth (Or your hands if you want to get messy!) and leave it on for about thirty minutes.

The banana, honey, milk, and coconut oil will moisturize your skin; the cinnamon will even out your skin tone, plump up your skin to look healthier and minimize lines and grooves, improve acne, help with eczema, and fight infections.
If you have a lot of allergies, be careful using cinnamon on your face.

Coconut Mask

This mask is mainly made of coconut oil, a very nourishing and hydrating oil for the skin.
All you need to do for this mask is combine two tablespoons of coconut oil, a teaspoon of olive oil, and a few drops of tea-tree essential oil.
Leave this on your face anywhere from twenty minutes to an hour. You could also leave this on overnight if you want a deeper hydration.

The oils all will hydrate and moisturize and the tea-tree will fight acne.

Egg Mask

This mask is pretty simple. Separate an egg-white from the yolk and apply the egg-white onto your face with a brush. To make this a peel-off mask, grab some tissue paper and separate the layers. Layer the egg-white with the tissue onto your skin until your face is covered in tissue paper and egg-white. Leave this on until it dries completely. (It will feel tight)

Egg-white is great for moisturizing and evening the texture of your skin.

Vinegar Mask

Wait, did you read that right? Vinegar? Yep. Apple Cider Vinegar to be precise. Mix together a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and a tablespoon of honey. Leave it on your face for about fifteen minutes. (thirty max)

Apple Cider Vinegar restores the PH value of your skin while the honey moisturizes it.

Add a few drops of tea-tree essential oil if you have acne: this essential oil can do wonders for acne.
